Wiki Tools

Okay, so you took the plunge and you've created a wiki for your class. There are some interesting tools online that can help you to make it extra special. Here are some of my favourites:

1. Paint.net
I'm not sure that I can call this a wiki tool. I use Paint.net so often every day that I'm not sure what I'd do without it. Besides the fact that it's an incredibly versatile and powerful program, it's also FREE! (Take that PhotoShop!)

2. Voki

Okay, this is so easy that you could have your students each create their own Voki for your wiki.

Step 1. Customize Your Character - this involves choosing a head, hair, clothing and, if you want, bling.
Step 2. Give It a Voice - you can record your message by phone, type a message and have the Voki turn it into speech, you can record your voice with a microphone or you can even upload an audio file from your computer.
Step 3. Save
Step 4. Copy the code that is created and add it to your site.

Got it? Good.

3. iSpeech

Step 1. Enter your text.
Step 2. Choose a voice.
Step 3. Wait for your text to be translated into speech.
Step 4. Copy the code that is created and add it to your site. (Or save the file and add it to your site.)
